In Untitled, Kansas, I’ve foregrounded a severe Kansas landscape against the repeating text of my poem Now, first exhibited in an installation by the poet Catarina Davinio in Naples, Italy in 2014, and subsequently published in 2017 in Kansas Time + Place: An Anthology of Heartland Poetry. The split-image landscape, with its own poetic implications, playing against the text of my poem, itself a psychological landscape derived from my Kansas boyhood, combine as a unified poem-object addressing time, place, memory, perception.
